Jesus has given some "hard," yet wonderful teaching that goes against our natural, fallen desires. The teaching to love our enemies certainly is one of the hardest and highest. It is not enough to love those who love us and hate those who are our enemies. Jesus says we must love those who are our enemies. Why should we do this for? Because, for one reason, God loves His enemies and if we are His children we will reflect His character, though imperfectly. Then Jesus ends this part of His teaching by telling us we are to be perfect as our Father in Heaven is perfect. Though none of us can be absolutely perfect in this life, we must not over look what Jesus is saying. Jesus has gone through different teachings and after teaching these great truths we must, at least, strive for perfection. Christians, though far from the absolute perfection of God, do reflect God's character and must continually grow more and more like Jesus.
